Thing1, IronK and I will go to the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games this weekend. We're going to depart from the Molly Mac Gear Skunkworks at O'Dark Thirty on Saturday morning, and attend the games on Saturday and Sunday.
I'm thinking of hanging Saturday night near the headwaters of Wilson Creek, so we can be close to the games, without being close to the crowd at the GMHG campground. A little more than a mile past GM on 221 toward Blowing Rock, the map shows a "gravel road suitable for passenger cars" at the beginning of Andrews Creek. It sorta follows the topo just below 221. Another mile and a half down that dirt road, and you enter the Wilson Creek Wild & Scenic River area, and the road descends. I thought I would see if there is a good place to park & hang short of the W&SR area.
Anyone ever been on that road?
