Anyone ever tried to do this? I've got the one wally world sells online but it's a bit short to get the right sag on my blackbird. Can I buy prefurled peices of aluminum and have them cut to the right length at a hardware store?

There have been other threads where folks have gone to their local muffler shops and had extenders made.
Some have been successful, others haven't. Keep in mind that any extension is a lever arm that can multiply stresses on the stand... At least one folded up his tube-steel hammock stand with this method.
Do you have pics of the WM stand? I'd only consider this if your weight is well below the rated maximum of the stand...

This thread covers stand extensions done with boiler piping. I had them made for Harpo for $60 a set. PM me if interested.

The road goes ever on and on Down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the Road has gone, And I must follow, if I can, Pursuing it with weary feet, Until it joins some larger way, Where many paths and errands meet. And whither then? I cannot say.
