Well, finally got my hands on a big ol' metal hammock stand for the patio.
Yay!
It is a Byer of Main Vario stand, and I was able to use my double parachute hammock on it, although I do wish the uprights were taller! My rear was about 3" from the ground and that was after I extended it to its full length and height and messed around with tensions a bit.
As others here have mentioned, there is considerable drawing-in of the uprights once load is applied but, since I have a continuous whoopie sling ridgeline on this hammock, I was able to tighten the ridgeline up QUITE tight, then sat down in the hammock. The uprights flexed in enough more that the ridgeline was not completely taut while the hammock was loaded. However I did still have some near ground misses.
I had not realized how spoiled I was with infinitly adjustable height trees! It is QUITE awkward getting out of the hammock. Oh well. Just means I have to stay in the hammock more often.
Garçon! another frothy nothing with fruit and an umbrella, if you please!
