Padded Webbing/Tree-Huggers?

I'll just throw out there.....I once made a strap "sleeve" (picture a padded guitar strap or seatbelt cover) to try, but it didn't work out too well. Inside the sleeve, my webbing just started kinda curling over, and so did the sleeve.

That was pretty much what I had in mind. Knowing it doesn't work well will save me the R&D!

Wouldn't wrapping a longer strap around the tree a few times equate to using a wider, shorter strap? A longer strap would also have the benefits of increased adjustability when picking a site, no?

One problem with multiple wraps of a narrower webbing hugger - you are now totally girdling the tree instead of just the sides and back of the tree. Seems like this could lead to even more damage than simply using wider webbing like 1.5".

Techni-quibble: Seriously doubtful, since the passenger area has it's own floor and is above the cargo hold. Nobody is walking directly on the skin of the aircraft.

When I was in Boy Scouts years ago (60's) I used to share rides with another scout whose dad is/was an engineer (Duke U professor) and I remember him talking about just that problem of ladies high heels and the load they excerted on the aircraft floor.
