Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.
Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.
Hanging bivvy's have been around for many years, as you can see, and they are still commonly used on lots of big walls. They are pretty popular on the old school yosemite aid routes, since they are a lot lighter to bring up in your haul bag, compared to the framed bivvy shelves.
That said, most climbers remain in their harnesses and tied in, even when they bivvy, for obvious reasons.
Kayakers on busy waters or fragile use poop tubes, too...keeps the river clean. It's like packing it out on the trail...I might just pick a different trip. But...if I could do big walls like the ones in the pic I might be convinced to use a poop tube.
