    Confused in NC

Ok, so I am new to hanging, about to hit BWCA for 8 days with my new hammock. Been reading all the forums, here and on BWCA.com.

I have a Warbonnet BlackBird with the SuperFly Tarp from WarbonnetOutdoors.

I have been practicing the setup in the backyard and all seems to work ok. All this talk of snakeskins, ring buckles, ridgelines, marlin hitches has me confused.

Am I missing something or is my system setup complete or am I in danger of an accident.

    Thanks for you help.

if you've got an all-inclusive package with the hammock, bug net, and tarp and you've got something to attach it to the trees and you're successful doing that, you have what you NEED to go hang.

All of the other stuff you read about is from people tinkering with their gear.

some hammocks don't come with either a bug net or a tarp and also don't come with suspension. so those of us have to tinker to get a whole system put together.

Thanks, kinda what I was thinking and I am getting some good ideas on how to fine tune what I have.

Do you know an Orthopeadic Surgeon Dr. Ferren in your parts. Great guy if you ever are in need.

    Thanks

Nope, haven't had a need for an ortho doc. Just an oncologist/hematologist.

Big NC welcome. Confusion will be relieved by some time spent on sitting down in front of the PC and watching Shug's video series for nuebies.

WARNING: Will discuss Rhurbarb Strawberry Pie and Livermush at random.

    Thanks guys:

Have seen the "Shug" videos, any fan of livermush is a friend of mine.

Still tweaking what small items to hang on my inside ridgeline to make my new spot more like home. Have a very small light with a clip, a few mesh like bags just keep odds and ends etc.

Curious if when I take down the hammock if I could use a larger compression sack and just leave the sleeping bag inside the hammock and have an all in one deal. Or is that just too much to try and stuff at once?

    Just curious

that's gonna depend on your situation. When I'm backpacking, I've got my tarp seperate from my hammock and it goes into an outside pocket of my backpack. My hammock goes in the main backpack and it's usually the first thing I pack up. My quilts go in next and they are just free stuffed into all the corners of my backpack. If I had my quilts with my hammock, it would be a much larger "item" and I wouldn't be able to put it into my backpack. You will need to access your situation and see if you can work it out. There's nothing wrong with keeping the sleeping bag with your hammock if it works for you!!!

This is great advice and is essentially what I do. It just takes some experimentation to figure out what works best for you.
