Which Warbonnet BB is right for me?

Continuing on my quest to extract free hammock knowledge from you guys... (how do you know I'm not a Russian spy?)

Again, I'm a strikingly gorgeous 5'8" brunette supermodel who hikes in high heels and sultry lingerie and I need to know where you keep your nuclear launch codes. Oh wait, wrong forum!

I'm actually an unsightly 6'1" 190ish lbs and I'm trying to decide what WB Blackbird is "right" for me. And for the record, I've never hiked in high heels but I do like my Asolo boots.

Option 1: 1.7 oz fabric single layer and spend the money on an underquilt right up front when I buy the hammock. I'm right at it's "Max Flatness" weight, so I'm a bit concerned.

Option 2: Double layer 1.1 oz fabric... "Max Flatness" weight is 200 lbs. So I'm still pretty close to this, especially if you consider any clothing and accessories.

Option 3: Double layer 1.7 oz fabric... "Max Flatness" goes all the way up to 300 lbs. Is this overkill for me?

I like the idea of a double layer hammock because it gives me the flexibility to experiment more with various insulation pads and upgrade to a nice UQ when I have more money.

    Thanks comrades,
Natasha... er, um, make that plain old Globetruck.

We don't care if you're a russian spy. Commies need to sleep good too!

    Welcome Comrade!

You should go with either Option 1 or 2. A double 1.7 is overkill for you, and either of the other two (including the single 1.7) is plenty plenty strong enough to hold you comfortably.

Are there any hybrid 1.7 + 1.1 double layers out there? Just curious...

Sure, there are a few. I don't know if Brandon still makes them, though.

I'm 6' 185lbs and my 1.1 double works great. I've had some 200+ friends lay in it and it still looks good.

I'm 230ish and have slept in my girlfriend's 1.1 double a number of times. I notice a difference when I have my 1.7 double set-up next to it and I'm able to lay in one, then the other. The 1.1 double does stretch a bit. However, I'd be hard pressed to tell much of a difference if I wasn't able to just jump from one to the other. That second layer of fabric does an amazing job of supporting your weight. Same is true of any of the double layered hammocks.

    Yep,
    I second what AngrySparrow said.

And welcome to the forums comrade, it seems that we truly are international, and if guys can go hiking in skirts (they like to call them kilts), you can where your high heels if you want to. HYOH

But for this wee wittle Irishman, I will keep to wearing something that is devided for each leg, and put boots on my hairy feet.

hot russian spy??? No pictures... Not True. I would say option one or 2 would be the way to go. The 1.7 double would be overkill for you. plus you will save a little bit of weight with the other 2 option I believe. However, if you were just car camping, go with the 1.7 double

I vote for the 1.1 double too. A nice extra bonus of the double layer material is that it prevents skeeters from biting through when it's warm enough to sleep without bottom insulation.
