Are there any DIY Hennessey Quilt instructions out there? I've had a quick look and couldn't see a split underquilt instructions - I'm hoping my wife might be tempted to make me one for Christmas...

There is a tutorial around for a KAQ (Kick *** Quilt) originally designed for the HH. But to be honest it is simple enough to push the quilt out of the way and climb in and out. I didn't find a split quilt to be a major advantage. I have since moved to the Super Shelter for my HH and prefer it to any of the DIY quilts I had.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

I used them to make a quick and dirty underquilt from an old sleeping bag. No slit; as Ramblinrev mentioned, it's easy to just push it aside.
Agreed. Don't bother with the slit in the UQ.

Agree with the slit comments - it's not worth bothering with, especially for DIY. I think a non-slit UQ may be a tad bit warmer, too. A standard rectangular UQ will work fine. I have used 3 or 4 different UQs on a Hennessy and all have worked fine; none had a slit.
