Or Griz in looking at your Bridge with the rings - could you just fold the hammock ends and tie them off with some extra cord. and use the rings to attach the webbing to the treee? (does this make any sense?) Or will the pull on just those corner points cause problems?

You guys got me thinking too much about this stuff!

Depends on whether you like looking like a hammock taco shell or not

seriously, what will happen if you use the rings to tie to the tree is that all the weight will be carried on the sides through the webbing like on the bridge, without benefit of spreader bars, so the edges of the hammock will clam up over you. With the additional benefit that the head and foot are now higher, and so you get a banana for free!

I'm pretty sure that you need to wrap the ends like a normal hammock and not pull on the rings. A lark's head like Warbonnetguy uses is the way to go here methinks.

    Nice!

The work on that looks really nice. Always good to see a new idea. The roll hem foot...is that specific to your machine brand or are pressure feet somewhat generic. Anybody know??? Mine is an old Sears.brand.
Gentle raindrops and mighty oceans...neither can exist without the other.
Time heals all wounds...but it usually leaves a pretty big scar.

Attach fittings to the corners before you whip it and you could hang it as a bridge too. That would be more flexible.
