Photo update & other stuff.

I finally got the son to look at them, "we" think it's fixable, but will take time: my camera was set at the factory for the largest photos possible, they just won't fit here at HF & cutting them to a usable size makes them almost not worth viewing. He is talking to his "Computer guy" to work on a solution. BUT I managed to figure out how to make all my next trip pics fit fine, so Operator error on my part.

As to me being there alone, I went with hopes of seeing other hangers, but planned on it being a solo hike, so either way I would have been happy!

I also want to do a fall (Or Spring!) hang there, sadly all September & part of October is at the Ohio Ren fest doing first aid* & Oct my free weekend is likely going to be at the Linville gorge. November & December are still free, January is Mt Rogers of course & I ain't missing that if at all possible.

Hiking in the heat:
I had ample water, took frequent rest stops & did not hurry at all. In fact it took me nearly 2.5 hrs to go less than 2 miles the first day. At the time, I thought I was miserable, but once I got to camp "C" I realized I was having a great time: I was out in the woods hiking! I had food & supplies for parts of 5 days & a pack weight of under 27 Lbs WITH WATER, so that isn't bad, there is a potential of meeting old friends, or making new ones (11 by end of trip). When the workers on the bridge stopped for the day, I was in a place where I could hear NO human noises, and for the most part, all during that 2.5 hr hike, I was hearing ONLY the sounds of nature, this grin isn't large enough > One of the critters I forgot I saw was this very large gecko looking lizard, about 9 inches long, WAY cool!
So even a confirmed Heat Hater like me can have a good time in 90+ degree heat. I did do one thing I think helped, I never looked at my thermometer, I am pretty sure I did not want to know the real temp, weather it be higher or lower than what I thought it was.

Closing thoughts: so, if properly prepared, IMHO 70% of that is mental, any weather is "Hiking weather". There may indeed be "Too HOT" or "Too COLD" but so far I haven't met it.
I still am of the opinion there are 2 seasons: Summer & Hiking, but I'll hike 365 days a year if given half the chance!

LOL, the original post starting the group hangout was "Ohio hikers UNITE" for whatever reason I keep reading it as "UNTIE", so I put it that way just cause I'm weird.
