Looking 'round the forum, ready to learn!

Just got a hammock for my 17th birthday and I have been using it like crazy.

    ENO Doublenest
    Slap Straps PRO

After poking 'round the forum for about an hour, I look like a noob in comparison to you guys with all your fancy suspension systems.

I knew there must be an online community somewhere for hammock lovers and I am pretty sure I found the right place. I am usually one to jump right into conversations on forums, however I think I will hang back and learn for a couple weeks or so since I barely know anything about hammocks besides how to enjoy myself in one.

I'm thinking about finding a new suspension system that best suits my needs at this point besides just ENO's SlapStraps.

I live in Memphis by the way and I'm planning a camping trip across TN with one of my friends. We are gonna hit all the state parks and make it to the Appalachians. I figure this forum can take care of all my needs, from buying new parts and accessories for my hanging needs, to planning my trip.

Well I look forward to learning all about the art of hanging!

I think suspension is a good place for you to start as I've heard bad things about the ENO Slap Straps. Mostly about them stretching out way more than any suspension should. Welcome to the forum!
oldgringo's reply to my worrying about owning extra hammocks:

How many pairs of underwear do you own? Do you refer to them as "extras", simply because you're not wearing all of them as we speak?

dont scare them like that!!!! they might be light enough for slap straps to work!!!!

there are plenty of other options! have fun trawling through all the info and working out what you are going to do.....

it will take a while but itll be the best nights sleep youve ever had outdoors! FACT!

I'm probably gonna try out some whoopie slings, or even try to make some of my own. I am watching ProfessorHammock's videos right now on the basics. But I am definitely looking forward to sleeping off the ground

Welcome to the forum. One of the first things I did was change out the suspension to diy whoopie slings and am now using webbing from Arrowhead Equipment, caribiners, and marlin spike. Good luck with the trip.
