    Hangin indoors revisited

I asked about this months ago but want to pose it again.
Instead of using a stand inside, I'd like to hang off the walls.
It has been wisely advised to watch for the forces and possible destruction.
If I hang from corner to opposite corner, I would think the forces would be distributed outward along the walls.
I believe corners are reinforced with several 2X4s.
I was thinking of attaching two 2X4s to each side of the corner.
It would be out from the wall just a bit.
This way I could use a rope or webbing around BOTH pieces and be able to adjust height.
I'm hoping using boards on both sides will also help distribute the load.
Attached is a sketch of what I'm trying to describe.
    Any thoughts?

Each corner will have some 2x4s or 2x6s in the corner to nail or screw the drywall to. They would extend out about 1 to 1 ½” from the corner. There is usually one behind one these that is used to hold the corner together so that the drywall joint does not crack. These studs should have two or three nails in the top and bottom to hold them in place. Not sure if I would want to trust that number of nails to hold.
The studs will be attached at the top and bottom to the top and bottom wall plate. If I were going to try this I would make sure that my attachment was into the top and bottom plates. They will spread the load to more of the wall.

that should work fine scott, as long as you're sure to get a good bite into the corner studs at each attachment point.

you may want to pre-drill & use lag screws.

if you're willing to do it, don't be afraid to make a couple extra holes if you don't get into the stud the first time.
you can patch those extra holes if they don't get covered any way. it's most important (as you know) to get a good grip in each attachment.

here's a similar deal i've been using for a while now. more pictures on page 11 of my gallery.
