    'ello from Alaska

So, just registered on the forums a bit ago, been lurking for awhile, figured it was time to introduce myself.

as for myself, I've been in AK for 25 years, love every minute of it.

did the boy scout business when i was younger where i was introduced to hanging, and have wanted to get back into it since (nearly 10 years ago!) Anyways, now that I'm getting back into the outdoors more I've started piecing together a hanging set (and am still talking my g/f into trying it!)

So far, ENO single nest, HH hex fly on its way!, and getting setup for the ring suspension (looks sooooo easy! lol)

will be giving it a go in a weekend or so as My brother inlaw, neice, g/f's son and I all go float down a river and through some lakes (Little Susitna River, into the Nancy lake area)...we'll see how it goes, excited to get the youngins started!

Anyways...lots of great info here, and I've read through alot of it, and I'll continue to mainly lurk, possibly adding in from new experiences here and there :P

Thanks for all the info folks!

I can't imaging what type of underquilt you'd need for 40 below. And won't you need a kevlar undercover for the mosquitos?

    Happy hanging! Oh, and welcome!

Actually i won't even be using a netting, just some bugdope and a sleeping bag...

I've done winter camping, don't know that i'll try it in a hammock. Normally I'd build a snow shelter, helps insulate so much.

I guess if i had enough money to through at proper hammock gear, winter hanging wouldn't be to bad.
