    Dutch Oven Peach Cobbler Recipe

    Filling
3 (16-ounce) cans sliced peaches in heavy syrup
    1/2 cup Bisquick
    1/3 cup sugar
    Ground cinnamon

    Topping
    2 1/4 cups Bisquick
    1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter, melted
    1/2 cup milk
Cinnamon/sugar (1/4 cup sugar combined with 2 teaspoons ground
cinnamon; store in an empty spice shaker jar; shake well before each
    use)

    Directions

Spray a Dutch oven with vegetable oil cooking spray

FILLING: Drain 1 can of the peaches. Combine three cans of peaches, including the juice from the undrained cans, the baking mix, sugar, and a sprinkling of cinnamon. Place this mixture into the Dutch oven.

TOPPING: Combine the biscuit mix, sugar, butter, and milk in a resealable plastic bag. Drop bits of dough, using our fingers, on top of the peaches. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.

Fire up the charcoal, put the coals on and under the oven and cook for about 40-45 minutes, until the top is golden brown and crusty.

We could do a Dutch oven cobbler and I have a fun hungry man breakfast that serves 8 large portions. Bacon, sausage, potatoes, onions, green peppers, eggs, cheese, and muffins. I may need one of those roller packs or maybe I could bring a pulk.

Wow, my theoretical pack weight just went from 15 lbs to 150 lbs.
Even though it looks like I will have to walk in if my Volvo won't make the road, still count me in for both the cobbler and the breakfast fest!
What parts would you like me to bring or would you prefer cash to offset the cost of the food?

Did anyone make it down last weekend to check the road conditions?

If you all want to go in on the Dutch, I want to make sure those who want, get. Both recipes will feed 8. I think the only way I could bring in all the gear would be to bring it on a sled.

    20 lb Dutch oven
    15 lb charcoal
    +/- 5 lb ingredients
    2 lb utensils
    15 lb pack

Will there be any difficult trail or creek crossings to get to our camp? Or worse, if as Tewa said, this is thick bear country, will we make the kitchen downwind from camp?

The Trail drops 700' in less than a mile= lots of switch backs and steep trail, see Walt's Map.

Longbow has confirmed what Te-wa stated in an earlier post. Sounds like a car will be able to drive all but the last 2 miles then a high clearance vehicle is needed. I will be arriving by car and want to keep my load light for the steep descent/accent. I might be arriving late so a light load will also allow me to make better time. I plan on attending Friday night and will leave early afternoon Saturday.

Hmm. I hate to switch mid-stream, but I think the logistics of this trip will make it difficult for me to hump in all that gear, especially if I am herding kids down the trail trying to make it in before dark. Let's plan something simpler if we want to share.

LOL! This whole time I've been thinking you are some specail breed of super human carrying all that down and watching young ones. As far as sharing and group things I'm thinking everyone make there favorite light and easy backpacking meal and everyone gather in one area and show it off site and smell wise and share tips and recipes. I make awsome cakes over a bed of hot coals and a kick but chicken alfredo and I don't mind sharing my teqhniques. I know each person here has a meal that can make hungry mouths water with delight.
I LIVE FOR THE DAY AFTER TWO DAYS BEFORE TOMORROW.
