    Another option for straps

I know that a few people, like myself, have used the Harbor Freight straps as an inexpensive option for 1" webbing material. It works fine, but the BRIGHT YELLOW material is almost blinding.

I happened to notice a similar set of straps on Amazon today, but instead of the regular YELLOW material they're made to be grey.

Here's a link: Master Lock Lashing strap

The load rating may not be as high as the Harbor Freight model, but for the subdued color I may just try out a set. Figured I'd pass on what I saw.

I wonder if those yellow straps could be dyed with RIT dye? Or would the color just leach out onto everything it touches...

I have seen camo ratchet straps in the 1" variety in our local big box hardware store.

I saw some straps for sell at IKEA the other day. They were around $4 for two. I don't have any experience with them, but they were made to tie down furniture bought at the store. They were black, around 1". If anyone has an IKEA near by, it might be worth a try. They are 100% polyester.

Nice! 1" Black polyester strapping that I can get locally! Looks like I may be able to get rid of the yellow straps on my DIY hammock soon.

I wish they were longer than 11', but I'll take what I can get.

    Just don't trust the buckles

I see where they have a breaking strength of only 300#.

There are many suppliers here on HF, and here is another:

    http://www.nrsweb.com/shop/product.asp?pfid=1450%2E5

NRS webbing/buckles have a guaranteed strength of over 1050#.

No, I am not an employee or a shill for NRS.

Guys, there are places to cut corners and squeeze pennies, but the suspension you hang your butt on ain't one of them. Go cheap somewhere else.
