Just thought I'd share a couple of photos of last nights experiment - drumming up interest for my hammock group buy at the scouts. Not sure how old the lamp post is, but it's certainly been there twenty or so years - I think its 1960s.
The hammock was tied off onto a holly tree shoot and to that yellow road bollard. Very comfy...

When I saw the thread title I was expecting to see hammocks in Narnia.
you use what you have handy- adapt, improvise, overcome!
It could be in Narnia... but the scout sign in the background gives it away. That and it's not snowing...
Anyway... I'd have used the trees - but they were far too far apart! I was really suprised!
Always good to use what's at hand. Good luck with your group buy!
