    Bicycle hammock camping

Recently stumbled upon this blog post that describes the use of a hammock for bicycle camping...he's using a Hennessey.

Anyone else have experience bicycle camping with a hammock?

I have used a hammock for a bicycle camping trip. It worked really well for me. I used a daypack to keep everything in.

Yep... I do multi day tour every year. I discovered hammocks after too much pain sleeping on the ground. I do stealth camping and my only concern with the hammock is that it's harder to hide, so I avoid bright colored materials. Depending where you ride, sometimes it's easier to find trees than flat areas too.

I have done quite a few bicycle tours that I have used hammocks on. I usually try to do my homework and pretrip planning to evaluate the hanging opportunities along my travel route. Stealth camping is an option of last resort for me.

I am trying to get ready for a trip to So.Cal. on my Bruce Gordon "Rock and Road" bicycle. I have a tent, but I am now discovering hammocks. Hmm.., I would like to ask for any info from you, (anyone) about which kind, brand, set up that you feel is optimal for my endeavor. I was thinking of Hennesy, then found the Warbird and Eno. Does anyone have experience with these?

Crash (a member here) just did a trip report on two bike/hammock trips.
As said, pre-scout the area for trees, water etc.

Definitely not an UL load but hey, it works. She seems to be ok with it too.

What a great dog. I enjoyed her at the Michigan hang. I could see her on the handle bars.

    Thanx Gargoyle.

I did mine on rail-trails but it would be the same for road trips.

Biking and hammocking seems like a natural pairing to me! Even if it's not a multi-day tour, taking a hammock along on a long ride affords one the opportunity to hang and rest in a park before continuing a long trek home.
