Sub 1 Pound Hammock Rig

I'm sure I missed thanking some one out there specifically for help, but it was not intentional."

That door swings both ways. Those of us for whom weight is no big concern still reap considerable benefits from the efforts of you guys that are pushing the envelope. A big "Thank you!" from this corner of HF.

You know, as I was outside earlier today I was thinking about that. I remember a time when sil-nylon was considered an exotic fabric in the hiking community. Only cottage industries were working with it. Now it seems many big manufacturers are using it. All packs were in the 5 pound range back then, tents were the acceptable shelters - guys in hammocks were the weirdos. There was only one real company making alcohol stoves and they were from Europe. Now days many of these ideas are the mainstream. While some poh-hoo the ultralighters, some of their "normal" gear only exists because ultralight gram weenies were out there pushing the envelope.

Now things like cuben and Spinn are the fringe exotics - imagine what the future holds. Think of it, someday an 8 pound three season base might seem VERY normal. Of course, as things are cyclical, there is also the chance that everyone will rediscover the joy of carrying 80 pound packs again.

I'm working on getting my winter base below 10 pounds and good down to 0F.

I've laid eyes on this system in the Citico, besides breaking the sound, err weight barrier it's a sharp looking system. Awesome job Rock!

I'm planning to hike it up to Spence Field tomorrow and then down Eagle Creek Trail Wed. Unfortunately I gotta go to work Thursday.

Medicine Man, we had to get some more outdoor thread to complete your stuff. But I have you other stuff ready to go with it.

Looks like my pack will be below 12 pounds starting. Ouch!

wish I was going out this weekend but I've got a date with a 80yo, getting her up to see her brother in Norfolk while they can recognize each other...ear plugs packed.
