One Link System

G'day hangers,

Im a bit confused

Could someone please explain the difference between a Eno One Link System as opposed to the other Eno range?
Im thinking (and Im usually wrong) its all linked together for ease of setting up , but you cant remove the tarp and bug net to use the hammock as a seat.

Im kind of looking at this systen in a Double Nest as Altrec have it there for $209 - would you consider this a reasonable buy.

I also thought just get the Hammock and bugnet and go with a HF fly off a member,

The One Link system is just a combo package. It saves you a little monet vs buying all the pieces separately. I think it would be better to just buy a hammock to see how you like it and get a feel for hanging.
All the pieces of gear included in the one link system work but there are lighter and better alternatives IMO. The hammock is good but the suspension is usually changed by most if not all the people that get it. The slap straps that come with it are notorious for stretching. The bugnet is a little heavier than comparable ones out there. The fly works well enough but smaller and not enough coverage for some people's tastes.
A lot of it depends what you are going to be using your kit for. Is weight an issue? Are you a gear tinkerer? Car camping vs Backpacking?

G'day Odds,

My hanging will be for motorcycle camping so weight isnt really an isuue, I like to tinker a lot and cant keep still when Im out camping, the Eno range are priced nicely and offer a few options I do need a little shelter for my gear and if I could squeeze the back end of my bike in it would be good so I could leave my pack on the bike and out of the elements.

I went through the same decisions process about two months ago. If you read the posts on Hammocking Forum, the concensus is--and I was on the verge of buying a One Link system, too--that the ENO hammock is okay (not great but acceptable, and I agree), the slapstrap suspension is worthless (I bought that individually and agree--too much sag/stretch), the tarp is too small (side wind and rain will come onto you) and the bugnet is acceptable (I own it and agree, it's sort of saggy).

The Hennessey Expedition at $139 is hammock, bugnet integrated (now available in side zip model from Hennesey direct, which is preferred because the bugnet can be hot in motorcycle season), has snakeskins which make storage a piece of cake, and has a tarp that is reasonable, BUT if you buy from Hennnessey direct, you can and shold ask for a the larger Hexfly Tarp, which is great! You may have to pay a few dollars difference for the larger tarp, but it's well liked. So, there, for less than $159 (I added twnety bucks for the tarp enhamncement), you have the system, including a suspension system. The suspension system is the one thing many switch out, and there are videos about how to do this, the best being Professor Hammock: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1f2Xt...next=1&index=4 But you don;t have to switch it out, and it's certainly better than the slapstraps. Oh, and the Hennessey Expedition, like the OneLink, comes in a nice, one bag simple storage for your motorcycle kit.

So, all in all, I really think you'd be better with Hennessey System than a Onelink System, based on what I have read. I own both ENO and Hennessey. including a ENO bugnet, which is okay, but not as good as Hennessey; I displike the slap straps more and more I use them due to stretch and being one foot off the ground in a couple hours, and I never pulled the trigger on the ENO tarp but instread bought a Kelty -9 which is great. So, the Hennssey System is overall better based on my reasearch on HF, and the posters have plenty more experience than I, and The Hennessey, and now with the available side zipper and free snake skins (formerly $20) and the tarp upgrade (gives you some room to move around under it, unlike the tiny ENO), you'd be better with that, I think. The the larger tarp, plus the free snakeskins and open side zipper options, were I to do it again, I'd buy the Hennessey from the factory website. These are valuable options. I bought from a retailer on eBay, saved maybe $20 bucks, but lost out on some goodies, and ended up buying the larger tarp for $59, and the snakeskins for $20, and I still don;t have the side zipper (although aftermarketer 2QzQ would do it for $35+return shipping)...so, buying from Hennessey direct wold have been much cheaper for me. Hope to help you with what I learned earlier this summer. The hard way!

Im a motocamper and have used the original hennesey and the WBBB. I also have both ENO single and double. For motocamping, at least in our neck of the woods, having the bugnet that is attached is best. I find being able to zip off the bugnet on one side much easier than trying to get thru the bottom hole of the hennesey. However HH has zipper versions on their bugnet now. My experience and that of other motorcycle campers is to get a little bigger tarp that can be extended like a porch on one side in which your motorcycle can be moved under. Its nice being able to reach out of the hammock with a side zip and into the motorcycle saddlebags if needed.

I agree with the other posters here- ENO slapstraps are stretchy. Better ones out there. Can either go with strap suspension or use whoopie slings. Since weight is not an issue, packing size is... the whoopies pack a little smaller... If I compressed my BB like the ENO is, it will be comparable in packing size. The eno packed is tight like a softball, the WBBB in its longer pack is a sub sandwich size. Its packed a little looser and will conform and fit into the nooks and crannies of your saddlebag better.

I think from reading the comments on the ENO hammocks in this forum that it's closer to consensus that the ENO hammocks are actually pretty comfortable...easy to get flat lay in.

I quite like my ENO doublenest, it's as comfortable to me as my Blackbird.

The tarps and slap straps are apparently a different story altogether.

of the entire website, rather than just the ENO forum. Obviously, with any product, some people will like one more than the other--some love ENOs. Hence my closing line, "your mileage may vary". I respect your thoughts.

My thoughts on ENO: I bough the Doublenest wanting to share naps in it with my wife. Using it by myself, it's to much fabric and it tends to hang in my face. Wish I had the single. The slap straps don't give you enough adjustment, not seeing tons of stretch but there is some I'm sure. The bug nest works great, might be a little heavy. I wish it had a ridgeline on the inside so I could hang things from it. The ridgeline goes on the outside and the net clips to it. Super easy to set up though and you don't have a problem with mosquitoes biting through the bottom fabric. Others may not like the tarp, but I set mine up and left it hanging through a MAJOR storm. I went out expecting to find things shredded. All was good, and it was dusty dry under the tarp. I'm a believer! This works fine for a second hammock and for hanging around the house, but for serious pack camping I think something else would work better. I'll probably buy a Warbonnet or Clark sometime. Oh yeah, I pieced mine together but got most of it on sale at REI, you might do better with the complete system.
