Peanuts
"A womans place is on the trail"
Peanuts, you might have better luck to mapquest where you are to Lawrenceburg, Tn. Once you are on Hwy64 continue west on Hwy64 thru Lawenceburg untill you get to the Trace. Go north toward Nashville about 30 miles and you will see the campground. Also if you have time and would like a scenic drive, go all the way to Nashville, then west on I-40 about 20 miles to McCrory Lane, go south a few miles till it dead ends. You will be able to see the northern terminis for the Natchez Trace Parkway on your right. It's about an 60-90 minute drive south on the Trace to the campground, but it sure is a beautiful drive this time of the year. Follow the spead limit on the Trace as it is a National Park and their a little picky about speeders. Hope this helps, tnhillbilly

TAKE ANOTHER TRIP - create an entirely new route
Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it to the hangout after all. Got "volunteered" to work that weekend.
*Shadowmoss hangs head in sadness that Cerberus won't be there*
Any chance that will change between now and then? Here's hoping...

From one TNhillbilly to another allow me to say "hey" looking to get in on this "hangout" @ Merriewether lewis. We just all show up? Please let me bag of you not to judge the newbies too harsh. My wife and i will try to make it. Depending on which hammock we get you may be able to relive your excitment of hanging your first right out of the box...but what else should we bring that won;t neccessarily come with the box...obviously deoending on what hammock we buy. Sorry so vague, just have a lot of questions. and a lot of enthusiasm but no exp.
Bring a tarp - for each hammock. And I don't mean just the regular one that comes with the Hennessy's if that is what you get, you need a larger one than that. Unless you order their hex tarp, which is what I have. That is a really nice tarp.
Bring some kind of insulation for underneath you. Either the blue pad from WalMart (get a couple, they are around $6), or order an underquilt from one of the folks like Speer or the Jacks. Underquilts are expensive, though. If you show up with one more blue WalMart pad than you have hammocks, we can make you a wider pad (the no-sew spe). Basically you cut up one of the pads to make wings for the sides of the other two. We can use duct tape to make a DIY spe. That should be enough unless it gets really, really cold. You use your sleeping bag on top like a quilt and a pad under you for insulation.
Bring food for yourselves, maybe of the shareable type. Cooking gear, coffee, etc.
Bring warm clothes, basic camping gear like headlamps and such.

ok so what time so we show up... i am so excited...but i still want to be fashionably late...hehe i am REALLY looking forward to it...My wife is still a bit iffy but i'll convince her. not much on hiking due to my wifes meeting of a hard VA oak tree of the 35mph variety. we'll be there. We have pads from REI (our favorite store) 40 deg bags. and other stuff. Yeah were leaning towards the HH due to the bugs liking my wife so much. and the ease of which to get in and out. We'll see.
