CAD for Gear making

Has anyone looked at using Google Sketchup to help design Hammocks, or any other gear for that matter?

I've used it for a number of projects around here, its pretty handy for making a nice scale drawing of something or for making a template for a stove etc.

BTW there is a free plugin with bezier curves that allows you to make other than circular arcs, nice when drawing.... say, a hammock. :~)

Redo although I understand how this plugin would be helpful I am in need of a little tutorial to see how to actually use it...

ive used it to draw hammocks tarps tents kayaks and just interesting shapes

OMFG I was on the beta testing for this and forgot all about it!!!!

There was a neat documentary video about special needs teens using this. They showed the one kids house he designed what had a doll house inside with all it's own furniture and stuff. It was great.
