    Thermarest chair/pad double duty.

I've been using a Thermasrest pad as insulation that double as my chair. Thermarest has these nifty chairs that allow your pad to become a seat like a Crazy Creek for those of you not familiar with them. Before leveling up to hammocks I thought this was great. Another piece of gear that acts double duty. I prefer to pack things that I can use for more than one purpose.

But now that I'm purchasing an UQ, my Thermarest pad only serves one purpose. So here is my question....Is there a better campchair out there that can justify my getting rid of the Thermarest?

My guess is that you'll get lots of opinions. Since I use a partial UQ, I've been recently experimenting with using a Crazy Creek chair (regular) as both camp chair and feet/leg insulation. It's definitely not a very lightweight solution but having a camp chair makes the in-camp time much easier.

How about MacIntyre's 5 in 1 Jerry chair. Can be used as a chair in combination with trekking poles and can be used as an UQ.

I say keep the pad. If you end up getting a 3/4 UQ you can still use the pad under your legs/feet. Also, If you ever have to sleep on the ground, you'll still need the pad.

Where I hike, I carry a Bearvault, that's my camp chair...

    good luck,

The Jerry chair is quite a piece of ingenuity.

I'm in the same situation. My 3 season crowsnest just arrived and i dont really want to lug a thermarest around just to use as a chair.

So, I've had my eye on an Alite Butterfly chair for a while. Haven't pulled the trigger yet, though.
