I'm putting together a two night backpacking trip near the end of September. We plan on leaving on Friday afternoon and come back Sunday evening. I've done the Tecumseh Trail and the Adventure Loop a few times each. We are ruling out the Knobstone Trail and need to come up with a good trail or trails.
If anyone has some suggestions, I'm all ears....or eyes in this case.

You could always do the Brown Hollow to Browning Hill area.

At the Indiana hang this spring, bonsaihiker, krugd and I hiked from the Southern terminus of the Nebo Ridge trail up to Brown's hollow. Taking the "short cut" that bonsaihiker saw on a high resolution map, it was 5 miles. If we'd stuck to the Nebo Ridge trail and gone closer to the Northern trailhead, it would have been closer to 8 miles.
Very nice trail, enough up and down to provide some variation, the path was wide and clear, lots of shade but not a "green tunnel" by any stretch of the imagination.
Brown's Hollow is a great camping area. A stream passing through, lots of well placed hanging trees and lots of open space as well.

I liked Brown Hollow at the Hoosier Hang last spring. Parking at the North end and hiking in would work great for the Friday afternoon hike and first night camp. I missed out on Browning Hill, so I wouldn't mind getting to see it. I'm sure there's a way to make a decently long hike out of the area between the Hollow and the Hill. If there is, this may be what we do.
My other idea was to park at the tower near Sycamore Loop in Charles Deam and hike into Crescent Valley on Friday evening. Then on Saturday continue the loop and take Axom Branch to the Peninsula Trail and see how far we get to the end of the peninsula before making camp. Alternately on Saturday, hike Cope Hollow Loop instead of the Peninsula Trail.
Either way, they all seem like good options.

I'd love to still do the Deam this year and your thoughts on hiking the Deam sounds fine. The Deam can only have 10 people in a group on the trail at any one time, so the group will be personably sized - it's why the Deam wasn't any longer an option for the HH.
I like big hammocks - I cannot like.

I spoke to the DNR about that.....while it is a rule i was "told" It is never enforced.....that is until we do it...
