    Great questions, BER!

Yes! I stored my Molly Mac Pack in it last night, and built my load this morning while it was still in the Gear Box.

I don't think so, because the suspension is clove hitched around the gathered end, and there water will drip off the bottom of the hammock. The SEEP is on top.

You could have problems if you are careless in closing it up. After putting a water bottle in the pocket, you need to tug on the SEEP to make sure it covers the opening all the way to the ends.

Correct! It is sewn together for about six inches, giving the SEEP a good overlap at the ends.

Thank you! You reminded me that the Gear Box also comes with a 2" webbing strap that turns it into a haversack!

Like this? (SEEP instroduced in post #19)

I just shipped the first production MMG IX Hammock Sock, but I did not get pictures. The customer said he would make some, though.

Something like that, except much lighter. You know me LOL. I'm working to get my winter base under 10 pounds for an article this winter. I currently have a sock

But there is extra material because it needs to be made where you can slide it up over you. What I was thinking was modifying it slightly to taper at the top end and eliminate some extra material and give it maybe a half door design similar to your flap. I'll try making some sketches to work it out. But this, with a couple of IX under layers would do nice. I think you also use quilts inside your winter sock? Seems like I remember that from a video.

The IX Hammock Sock is made like a dory, with no excess material. It has a pointy-ended eliptical bottom and two sides with radical sheer. That way, the material is only enough to conform to the shape of the hammock, without the excess on the ends.

The Gear Box is made like a hammock, so it can have no seams to leak.
The Sock and Box designs share only the SEEP.

That's because it is only one layer of IX. The one I recently shipped has 3 layers of IX. It weighed about 28 oz, IIRC. Should be good to zeroF or lower!

I'm thinking a 0.9oz DWR shell with maybe a single layer of IX inside, then using my existing down quilts under the hammock on the bottom...
