    Flip Her Over!

I don't know if this is more of a common sense idea or what, but I remember looking at the HH website and the guy lounging back using the hammock as a chair, but he was sitting directly on the netting. I've got a DIY hammock that I made with netting on it, and I learned today that if you want to sit or lay in the hammock with out sitting on the netting, all you have to do is flip her over. Should work with most hammocks I would think.

it should but with the HH if you undo the pullout and push back the netting it makes a chair like shape....from what i remember
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold

This is certainly correct for my Exped Scout - the instructions specifically say that if you want to lounge around and you do not need the net, you turn it 'upside down' so that the net is underneath.

I've been flipping my Claytor JH into "Day hammock" mode since I got it 11 mos ago. It's one of the reasons I chose it, the multitude of set-ups that it was capable... Just make sure whatever you "Flip" that the netting is ample size to be loose so you're not stressing it or the attachments to the hammock. Probably use ot 90% of the time like this. Been looking into a Traveler for this reason...

HHs have a ridgeline that won't let you flip it over like you can other hammocks. That's why they're used in chair mode.

Unless of course you mod the ridgeline to be removable at will.

That mod is discussed at length in quite a few older threads.

    HH as lounge chairs

I can use my Explorer Dlx as a lounge chair by doing what has already been described - Undo one side tie-out, fold the bottom fabric in 1/2 and sit down. The ridgeline serves as a backrest, That said, I have made the ridgeline un-clippable snd do flip the HH upside down to use it open to the sky.

ah, I see. Luckily with my hammock I have loose netting and a removable ridge line, so that way when I flip it, it goes back to the "open to the air" hammock.
