    What happened to Risk?

    Hi all,
When I was first getting into hammocking, about 7 yrs ago, Risk's website was one of my favourites. He was the inventor of travelpods, insulated hammocks etc. It seems he's dropped off the face of the hammocking earth, with no site updates in over 6 yrs.

Anyone know what happened to him?

if he has a real domain, do a "whois" on it and it will give his name, address, phone and email. People (ALL OF YOU) should register their own domain, and GET REAL on the net.

I believe Risk is a member here, and I think has checked in here from time to time. He has had a lot of original ideas about hammocking. I enjoyed his site too.

Hehe - Wentworth has an insulated hammock on my Hammock Camping Warm page.

A lot of my project ideas came from looking at Risk's site. I based my first DIY hammock ever, the two-layer hammock, from the directions on his page. And the synthetic insulated hammock and travel pod, and I saw his down insulated hammock at a Hot Springs Hang before I started working with down. I don't think he ever put that one on his site. That man definitely has some good ideas!

Looks like his last activity here was Oct 2009.

Last I knew, Rick moved from Ohio to Texas. I haven't heard from him since that time. I enjoyed hiking with him.

I just looked at his profile page...and NO ONE has ever befriended Risk??

Odd, to think in this great community, and Risk being a huge part of hammock infancy, that NO ONE said "hey Risk, lets be friends?"
I did. Not that he's been active on the forum. But, its the thought that counts. I respect and value all the folks that walked "the path of the hammock" before my time. Without their input and inventiveness, we would not be where we are today.

Been alot of great folks come and go over the years. I guess after a while, life goes on and hammocks are a hobby. And, like a lot of hobbies, they come and go, too.
I'm always amazed at how many folks lurk.

That feature didn't even exist until the last forum update, which was after he was last online.
