Thanks for the video. Wish I could have been there. I think we hit about 100 deg. F. that weekend here in Atlanta. Nice and cool in the Gorge.

Yea the weather was awesome. Even the rain. We haven't had much of that in ol Greenwood SC lately.

Thanks for sharing your video with us. That sure is one beautiful place to hike and hang.

Well thank you for that ... most excellent trip report and video. Those lights were more than likely Morganton ... can't see Asheville from there. On a good night you can see Hickory and Charlotte though.

The lights that we could see looked like they were from a big city. They were off the back side, instead of taking the right turn as you reach the top we went left at first. that where we could see the lights. What town would that be?

Man i gotta get to this place. I have my vacation booked for the next 4 years though.

Thanks for the video, and for keeping the itch going! I came within a "cat hair" of coming up Sunday, but decided against it for some dumb reason!

....The lights that we could see looked like they were from a big city. They were off the back side, instead of taking the right turn as you reach the top we went left at first. that where we could see the lights. What town would that be?.....

Well now ... if you were on the west side of Hawksbill ... can't think of anything you could really see. If you were on the east side ... definitely the closest would be Morganton ... just a bit left of that and in the distance (60 miles or so ... Charlotte but I'd be surprised if you could have seen that Friday night. Further to the east and more north ... you have Lenoir and Hickory that if conditions were right you could see the lights from. But my guess is you were looking at Morganton.
