    Hyperlight Mountain Gear

    Fellow hangers,

I recently purchased a pack from Mike at hyperlightmountaingear.com and got a chance to use it this weekend in Northern Az's rim country. First off, the pack construction is flawless, some of the best work I have seen. Secondly, the 2400 cubic inch main pack compartment is made of a cuben/nylon hybrid material. That means two things: The pack is very light, about 24 ozs. and it's waterproof (bye-bye pack cover). Also the pack is constructed with a frame that consists of a pad and two plastic stays. This pack carries very comfortably. I am just a hair over 6' and the large fits me perfectly. I will post pics in my gallery b/c I am having trouble posting them here directly( maybe someone could help ).
That's not even the good news. Mike currently does not have a hammock tarp in his product line, so he and I have been working together to develop the ultimate cuben fiber hammock tarp. In fact, I submitted drawings last week and Mike has already mailed me the first prototype. Stay tuned for pics of this tarp along with a brief review. Hammockers, this is a great opportunity to offer feedback to a vendor to help design an incredible UL hammock tarp.

Interesting...what sets your tarp apart from the others?

LOL, good thinking. That pack looks nice. Tarps wouldn't be good for a hammock I don't think.

    Hmg

I am currently testing a hammock tarp prototype that is not on the website yet. And actually these aren't my tarps, they are the handywork of Mike St. Pierre of hyperlightmountaingear. He has asked for some input and feedback to develop a tarp fro hammocks. I am not sure how much the hammock tarp will sell for. But cuben is some of the best stuff and, yes, it is expensive.

Sounds interesting. If he wants to send me some stuff to play with and evaluate I'd be glad to do it and write it up for him.
