Thanks, Zmad! Just ordered the jacket. I've been looking for this kind of a deal for a long while, usually if the price is right, it's only available in XS and Circus Tent OR only blaze orange, purple polka dot, or zebra stripe.

two things I love, earth toned gear and not paying full price for quality merchandise.

Hawkeye, I'm thinking we all see the cultural evolution of the 'Reflex NO'--the automatic 'we don't do that/can't do that/never did that' reflex default response to any question, any request.

Saves time, saves effort, and it's become a 'safe' all purpose response in an increasingly rules-overwhelmed, disempowered culture.
Corporations don't invest in training or rewarding employees they consider faceless transients, and employees who are treated as untrained unrewarded faceless transients have zero incentive to display any curiosity or to exert themselves for customers.

Which won't detract from my enjoyment of my new bargain EB down gear.

I really want one of these, but the XL leaves an air gap at my gut. I need a large, and they've been out of larges for a while now. I even missed one by $1 on eBay!! Grrrr...

For those who haven't seen Eddie Bauer's First Ascent gear, it's legitimate lightweight hiking gear. Not ultralight, and still made for a mass market, but it's good stuff. I was surprised to see how much thicker the Downlight sweater was than my ThermaWrap, and for not much more weight and a comparable price. (Comparing full prices)

Mine still has some, but none in large. You probably won't have a good pick of colors...bright red and almost-baby-blue is probably all that's left.
