yeah mine was not the knot bone...just has a 2-3 inch of white plastic/nylon quarter inch dowel on it...which seems fine...i believe that just slides along the amsteel and attaches to a burried loop on the end

Currently diggin' Opies Single Line w/ knotbone, prussics, and fig 9 under the tarp. Love it!!! Haven't tested it in rain yet. May go over tarp in that scenario.
the entire set up came with:
30 feet of amsteel
2-3 inch plastic dowel on one end
1 figure 9 on a prusik at the other end
2 s biners
2 figure 9 biners
2 extra figure 9's
2 extra prusik loops
I have a question: i know what everything is used for now, and understand how the tarp attaches, and how the tarp line is attached to the tree. But what were the extra figure 9's and the 2 figure 9 biners for? bought it as a package on the for sale section on the forums. do u think that the seller just had those as extras? or am i missing something here for the set up?
+1 for under as mentioned above. Although with my two prussik knots attached from the ridgeline to the tarp, I haven't noticed water dripping onto my hammock.
BTW my setup is one end wrapped around the tree and attached with a mini-'biner, run to the other tree and wrapped around and attached to a Figure-9 on a prussik, tied tight until the ridgeline is taut. Then the tarp is attached to the ridgeline with 2 mini-'biners and/or S-biners (still playing with these two options to see which I like). These are attached to the ridgeline with double prussiks, slid and adjusted to center the tarp over my hammock and then pulled taut to hold the tarp in place.
Yepper, just click the buy button. I'm all yours.
I have not had a leak issue yet either, just making a point that there could be a "possibility". I could see where water would want to migrate down the mini-nacra prussick. I think it has to do with the new zing it type line not being an absorbant substance. And the knot on the nacra prussick acting as a drip stopper.
Ambulo tua ambulo.
Yes, I think the extra bits are extra.
Although... there should be 2 prusik loops on the main line for tarp attachment. If they arent there then thats what the 2 loose ones are for. The S biners you can use for attachment to the prusik loops, or larks head them directly to the tarp tie outs.
90% of the time I'll hang my tarp over the ridge line. Especially in high winds or snowy conditions. It is nice to be able to hang stuff underneath to dry or air out. If a downpour is in the forecast, I might hang the tarp under the ridge line. I've not had water follow the line but better safe than sorry I guess. Using S-Biners or Soft Shackle Prusiks make it easy to configure either way.
