Started hiking with friends Adrian, Jeff, and Rick after setting up and camping at Reds Meadow bpers camp Mon. first stop was Devil Postpile. P7270091.jpg After pics and a hike around loop trail we hiked to first night camp at a Gladys Lake with great views of the Minerets P7270116.jpg After a good nights sleep we take off hiking. We hike past Rosalie and Shadow Lakes, Adrain and I take a side trip up to Ediza Lake P7280143.jpg with a awesome view of the Minerets of the Ritter Range. After returning we hike over a high pass and past Garnet, Ruby, and Emerald Lakes to camp at a very crowded Thousand Island Lake P7280156.jpg After a camping we had to go so far down the lake we decide to head cross country with a little help from Adrian's GPS we pick up the Muir trail at Island Pass and hike up and over Donohue Pass into Yosemite Park. P7290177.jpg after the pass we head down and descend into Lydell canyon to make camp after the footbridge. Friday we hiked along the meadow into Tuolumne Meadows and camped in the backpackers camp. P7300196.jpg Jeff's car was parked at the Rangers Station in Tuolumne so after setting up camp and cleaning up we went to Tioga resort for dinner and drinks. During the night my pack was pulled off my hammock line by a bear, so I had to jump out of my hammock at 4 am and chase a bear to retieve it. Luckily he dropped it and ran off after a 100 ft. After a good Breakfast at the resort Adrian, Jeff, and I climbed Mt. Lambert P7310220.jpg At noon we bid farewell and they dropped me off at the trail head and I was off on my solo section into the Yosemite Valley. I hiked over Cathedral pass and on over to Sunrise meadow for Sat. camp. Awoke to a cold morn with ice formed in my bucket P8010231.jpg Sun. I took off after packing up and hiked up and over Clouds Rest which had great views of Half Dome. I finished the day and made camp at sunrise creek about a half mile from Half Dome trail. I awoke early and was atop Half Dome by 8 am. In the pic I'm sitting on the edge of the Diving Board above a 2000 ft drop it was a gourgeous view. P8020239.jpg The climb up and down the cables was a trip, steeper than I imagined it would be. The trip down the trail there was a constant flow of dayhikers headed up, by the time I broke camp it looked like a line at a amusement park ride going up the cables. I hiked to Nevada Falls then back to Little Yosemite Valley for camp Mon. night. I woke and hiked the Mist Trail P8030274.jpg down to the valley and grabbed a burger and did some bus touring on Tues. before spending the last night in the backpackers camp. I got to meet Zonedam from WB and Randall from thebackpacker.com in that camp ZD was starting the Muir Trail and Randall was finishing a section hike. It was a great night for hanging. I left the tarp off and fell a sleep looking at star filled sky hanging from 200ft tall trees. Wendesday I caught the bus to start my trip home.
Man oh Man I sure want to go there. Thanks for adding to the itch

I'm drawn to the open country. Its where the world makes the most sense. When I put myself out there I always return with something new.
You must have missed the signs in the campground to put the pack in the bear box.
Looks like a great trip! That's one of my favorite areas.
Question - you say you are on the Diving Board - do you mean the lip on the top of the Dome, or the actual Diving Board, which is on the south side at the bottom of Half Dome? The Diving Board is a cross country trip involving bushwhacking or climbing gear, depending on whether you take the long or short route to it.
