Thanks for reminding me...I donated because I get so many laughs (in addition to good info). I completely forgot about the other benefit. Now I have to find that.

I donated a few months ago and am gearing up to send another $10. Just because I want to support the forum.

My question is: Does the system automatically notify people when their year since their first/last donation is up?

Yes, there is an automatic email notification.

I donated because i wanted to give a back a fraction of what HF had given me. I´ve been lurking for about 1- 1 1/2 year before i even joined as a member.
But as HF have reformed me as a hiker(it´s become lighter, more comforterble and more enjoyable to hike)i think it´s a very very small price to pay, and to help with the cost of running a site......

Besides.... as an avid paddler i just had to know what´s going on in the paddling section

I chose to donate not only because of the wealth of information contained herein but how "civil" this site is. It would be very easy to ruin great information delivered in an offensive way or meaningless debate.

Well, I agree with others (hence, I'm a donor) about the quality of the hammocking information here. Frankly, when anyone Googles anything about hammocks, this site come up. That is a true representation of the power of this site.

If donations are accepted but not incentivized (incentivized like the paddling website I mention, which offers discounts from retailer and the like), then I can see and accept--since you accept it also--the 5% donation rate (likely a higher percentage of active posting members, as you pointed out).

Continue the great work, jj and angry and all those that post regular advice and laughs. And OldGringo, who posts both.
