Paul, what cordage do you use for your adjustable ridgeline? What is the minimum tension strength that should be used?

I am doing them out of Dynaglide, overkill a bit for a ridgeline but I like how it splices for them.

I have some ZingIt and was wondering if the average strength rating of 500lb that it advertises, is sufficient for my hammocks adjustable structural ridge line.

I have heard the the HH stock ridge is only rated to 300 pounds---not positive and have never seen anything from HH to confirm that, though I have also heard of several that have snapped. That is why I am building to the high end. Rather not have one snap on someone.

So, is ZingIts' (2.2mm) 500lb rating close to the rating of the Dynaglide you're using?

Dynaglide is rated to 1000 pounds, so a bit more but if it is 2.2 then it should rate at 650 if I remember correct. So you should be up into a comfortable level depending on how tight you hang and your weight.

    .

Thanks Paul. I have actually been misreading the average strength rating (for the 2.2mm ZingIt), it actually states 580lb. (getting new glasses next week... ) I believe I'll try the ZingIt. My main concern would be if it breaks, the hammock netting portion may be damaged due to more stress on it than designed.

I tried once to get from HH the tension on their stock SR, but the person I asked didn't know.

Just FYI, I have not done any testing with either size of lash-it, so my saying it may work is speculative on my part. The first Adjustable RL I made was a custom special order for it out of Dynaglide and so that is what my testing has been with and what I chose to continue with. So take that as it is, an educated presumption I think that opie made some ARL's from lash-it though so.....
