Wait until you try a 3/4 down UQ with a Baby Orca 3/4 IX UQ on the outside! Windproof, water resistant and it takes the whole rig about 20*F lower than the rating on the down. Te-Wa and I are going to be demonstrating this come winter! I'm going to speak to Stormcrow about it as well.

I'm also working on a 3/4 IX Insert that is differentially cut with a space blanket layer. I can imagine that a 3/4 down UQ sandwiched between a Baby Orca on the outside and a SB/IX Insert next to the hammock... would be a very warm rig!

How would a 3/4 winter UQ with a 3/4 baby orca off set from one another (the orca is pulled down lower to cover your feet while the down UQ is at shoulder height) be. I guess what I am asking is would an IX UQ be warm enough to keep your feet warm (while in a winter TQ footbox) without the use of a pad (lets say in temps between 15 and 0 Degrees). And if so I wonder which would be lighter a short pad for your feet or a 3/4 orca
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

Bad idea. The layers should remain aligned, so they complement one another, and their insulation is additive. Down booties will help your feet!

EDIT: I'm stupid! If you use a Universal IX Insert with the 3/4 UQ sandwich, you will get just the effect you desire. It's longer at the foot!

I just packed a Te-wa Winter Coat with 2oz overfill for the second part of my upcoming hike. For the first part I'm using the now defunct Snugfit with the MacIX HammockSock with insultex. On top of me out of the chute will be a 3sMamba and near the end as I approach New Hampshire the Winter Mamba. So for the second part of the hike I will carry and use a pad inserted into the footbox....but even on the first part I'm still carrying a lightweight ccf just in case....my experience with the nano-7 is still firm in my mind.
