    Hi friends!

Just registered, so just saying hello and thank you for being here!

I am a new cyclist... a little more than a year, in So Cal. I have done 3 century rides with TNT, fundraising for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society and working to get my own body back!

One of my goals, along with getting in shape, was to begin to do some touring. I did a 3 day tour after a cycling event in Santa Barbara area, riding home along the coast about 200 miles, camping 3 nights in all. Researching before the trip, and never having liked "tents," I came across some info on hammock camping. I ended up buyiny a Hennessey and found it largely to my liking. I have some kinks to work out and I have questions before for my next big adventure. So here I am.
    Again thanks.

    Bill

Bill, welcome! Congrads on your survival. Nothing is as healing as nature, and the love of family and friends. You'll find a lot of that here. Hang on, you're in for quite a ride!

Awesome - welcome to the site. We have several cyclists here who have customized their gear for multi-day hammock/cycling trips.

Welcome Bill, Glad that you have joined us. Congrats on the century rides and the 3 day tour. I too have used and continue to use cycling as a means to shed weight and as you say get my body back. Hammock hanging / camping marry very well with bicycle touring. All the same principles and techniques that backpackers use also apply when carrying your gear on your bike. If you have questions do not hesitate to post them. The folks here are extremely helpful and like to share their accumulated knowledge.

If you haven't, check out the Bicycle Club of Irvine, I use to be a member when I was stationed at MCAS El Toro. They had planed rides just about every day of the week. Great bunch of people.

Southern Cal is just a a great place to ride any kind of bike.

    Also welcome to the forum

Hey there Bill! Welcome to HF ~ I am over in Whittier, not far from Santa Ana at all. Seems there are several people from So Cal here, including someone in Irvine.

Congrats on your riding and on giving back to an important cause!
