Hanging out with my wife and 7yo son and dog

It'll be my wife's first time in a hammock for the night...my son's come hammock-camping with me a couple of times...

I set up the hammocks in a spot cleared out by a windstorm last winter...lots of open space overhead for sky-watching (no tarps due to a perfect forecast), I'm using three trees for a triangular hammock-city...once we were done clearing the spot, my son and I took test-naps, while the dog settled down in the clearing in the middle of our hammocks...

On previous trips, I've left the dog at home, but I think that I'll try it this time...it's not too far from our home, so if he craps out, I can run him home in the night...fingers crossed!

Sounds great! Have a nice hang! Hope to hear how it worked out bringning the dog along.

I'm a bit envious, as several HF members seem to have wifes, who are willing to hammock camp. I'm lucky if my wife takes a glance at the forest through the car window

Everytime the dog comes along on a campout, he ends up in the hammock with the wife. Which is cute, considering he's an 85lb wolf hybrid. She wonders if we made a mini-hammock for him if he'd sleep in it on his own. I doubt it; he's a bit of a sentinal when we camp, getting up every hour or so and walking the camp perimeter checking things out, before climbing back into her hammock.

My wife and I hung in Portland, OR last weekend when we bike toured down for the New Belgium Tour de Fat (seriously, what goes together better than hammocks, bicycles, and beer?). IMHO, it's really a blast having my best friend along to hangout in the wild.

Great pics! Sounds like you had a great camping trip!
I think it's very important to do stuff like that as a familiy.

Must be nice with such big backyard/forest, with 10.000 acres of forest in addition to that.. In comparision my "land" amounts to 7500 square feet

So far my 110 lbs Lab has shown no interest in getting in my hammock which is good as she likes to sleep streched out and I would not have any room. She does like to get right under the hammock when I am hanging which ok until she decides its time to sit up and scratch.

Great trip report NFA(No Fun at All?) How do plan sleeping arrangements for your dog??
My dog is 50/50 Amstaff/rednose mix, once i figure out how to bring her in comfort to the woods... sheŽll be going aswell.
