I may try that mitten hook thing, although I find with the cord lock tightened I don't think it would be necessary, my main concern is if I gotta go bad in the night and I had to find a hook over my head in the dark and a cord lock.

The place I got mine was out of 60" and version 3.0 was made from the 52" with a different dart. It failed miserably as that 8" was pretty necessary. I then just made it about ~40" deep and made the front cut 45 degrees down from the top to bottom. Worked great. I think with other hammocks than mine (it is pretty short compared to most) that ~44" would be about right.

Hey PapaSmurf, I've been making another one and have noticed that the gray I'm working with today is a little lighter (and a little more fragile) than the puke green my net shown in the video is. But all the material seems to come from the same place. The bolts all look alike that the stuff is wrapped on at the store.

Have you noticed a difference in weight and strength between the different color materials?

    I used No-See-Um from ebay.

    On my scale it's 28gr/m2.
    (i did a misstake here, it's not 14gr/m2 , it's 28gr/m2)
The whole thing weights 138 gr
But then again, nothing is coming throw !

I guess you guys now know what i did this saturday

    Thanks SGT Rock !

Sweet. At 14gr/m2 that net is lighter than thru-hikers Nanoseeum net at ~24gr/m2.

    How strong is that stuff?

It's like most net's i been in contact with. not fragile at all i would say.
It wont take a stab with a sharp knife though

I only did a straight seam to connect the two layers and that looks good so far.
    No heming, no zigzag.

Can you think of any tests i can do with left overs?

I would do a stretch test where you join two pieces and then try pulling them apart to see how well the seams would hold up.

That gr/m2 is pretty nice. I think I'll order some and try it out.
