OK, back from the bin !
I found a sewn together scrap piece.
I could drag a petite wife out of bed without any effects on the fabric with just a straight seam.
She just got midly upset, i blamed you

I'm far away enough that I'll probably be safe. Thanks again.

Have you noticed a difference in weight and strength between the different color materials?
I've never really looked at anything other than the Black stuff, but there does seem to be considerable difference in weight, stiffness, etc. The latest roll I got was manufactured by Edley in New York. I'm headed down to my laboratory to do some weighing & playing. Had a 10 mile hike this morning with my Scouts, so I'm moving slow & gimpy today.

Just got a weight on the 48" deep version with the mitten hook. 53grams (1.87 oz.) This batch of Tulle goes 8 grams (.28oz) per yard.

I'd just like to say that I *LOVE* this thread.

I was thinking about putting velcro on the underside of my UL hammock... but that'd probly take up way too much weight and would certainly take a lot longer to get in and out of.

Gotta forward this thread to the guy who introduced me to these forums.

    P.S. --

I'd guess that the white material probly has less paint, dye, chemicals, whatever.

But where do you get your tulle anyway?? I found this on Amazon ( http://www.amazon.com/Darice-2953-52...dp/B003TFDR4O/ ); it's 54 in. x 180 in. for $8.54.

Is that enough?? Since it's a rectangle, I'm rolling the sides up and sewing those together, right? If that's the case, then I'd need a rectangle at least 80 in. wide and just ~14 in. longer than my hammock/rideline, right?

I also am trying to lighten the load wherever possible.

This looks like a very good way to cut some more weight.

I have found that most of the time I don't need the net but would not want to be without it.

Thanks for sharing the good directions SGT Rock

I get mine from tulledirect.com in 108" wide, but I've also found it at Joann Fabrics and Walmart in 54" wide.

You could use 54" wide and sew 2 pieces together or use a portion cut from the end to sew on the bottom. (see drawings below)

Yes, a total of 14" longer than your ridgeline length works out real nice.

Is your ridgeline 97" or shorter? I gotta piece of 108" wide x 111" Black Tulle that's yours if you want it. I was making a BugSock & cut it too short by accident.

BTW - This is also the same basic layout I use for the WinterSock, but using 60" wide material.

I'm pretty sure it will be, but I just ordered it early, early this morning... so can't say 100% either way.

And thanks again for the offer, but I think I'm gonna stick with white. Saw elsewhere that mosquitos are more attracted to black... and I'm not sure why, but I believe it. Their primitive "light-sensors" probly think reflective white is a light source??
