Unless you have that loft kit with the extra stabilizing bar on the bottom I would not attempt it. I experimented with this last semester and I would give it a big thumbs down on the standard bed. The supports are weak and are apparently pressboard and wood glue with a cheap metal rail. Some bigger people that have lofted them up high like that have had some problems... one guy I know just puts his mattress on the ground and sleeps on that now.
All that said, the video linked above seems like a little nicer frame that what I have dealt with. YMMV and for what its worth this has peaked my curiosity and I'm currently in planning mode for trial run #2.
I think it'll work just fine. Besides, who you gonna believe? A bunch of internet people, or personal experience? Says the guy with permanent bruises on his backside.
Gargoyle is right about the dimensions. When you see only one set of dimensions listed on a hammock like that's description, they are referring to only the hammock bed, not the suspension between bed and connection point. I'm not familiar with that particular hammock (too short for my taste in that style), but odds are good you can shorten the suspension and reposition the connection point if need be.
Unless you're willing to buy a tiny little piece of glass that is horribly overpriced, put on a tux, and make the mother of all promises....never promise them anything. They remember everything!
Trust nobody!
A bridge hammock might work well...
