    Lightbulb Idea for enclosed hammock.

I was laying in my hammock this afternoon and realized that my ENO doublenest cocoons around me. That got me thinking. What if I apply Velcro to both edges of the hammock then when I get in I can fasten them together. I know that it's breathable so there would be heat loss and it's not water proof but it would have to provide for some additional heat when It's cool. It would also give an easy way to attach bug netting in the summer. What do you think and what would be the best way to attach the Velcro (sew, glue, other)? Has any one else tried this?

my 1st hammock was an ENO double. i really liked the feel of the material but it was wider than i wanted.
so i cut the extra width of fabric sewn onto each side, just about where it came to my neck or upper chest. i re-hemmed the edges & added about a 7" velcro strip to each side.
then i could leave the shorter sections of the sides near my head hanging down & over lap the long side sections & velcro them together to enclose me from chest down.
worked great. when i get it back from a friend that i let borrow it, i'll take a picture. ...tim
I too will something make and joy in it's making

I know Peanuts put velcro on her Eno single hammock. I just got in my Treklight double and thought about what you said. I like the idea but I dont think the velcro would stay on too well when you stretched out wide on the diagonal. Could work with different sag maybe. I was barely off the floor.

I picked up some Velcro to give it a try. If it works great if not It'll be ready for bug netting come spring.

My Treklight double folds over the top of me when I'm in it. So does my Speer Snugfit underquilt, which I got with velcro along the sides. When I slept out at the hang-out I velcro'd the sides of the Snugfit together along the top with the hammock sides folded under it. I was nice and warm.

I'm thinking of putting velcro along the sides of my Treklight. I can use it for bug netting or to just fasten it around me. Just haven't decided if I'm going to customize that hammock or make a new one that is double bottomed... Then again, if I put velcro along the sides of my Treklight I can attach bug netting to it, and also use the same bug netting on a DIY hammock later... hmmmmm
