    Backyard Hammock Campground

Since moving to our new home south of Lancaster, my focus has been working on getting the house set up and getting the property maintained. Its my wife's dream home, so there was alot of work to do with the gardens that the previous owners spend a fortune on. So I have not had time to do any hammocking other than on the hammock stand on the patio.

We have land (not ours) in the back that belongs to the Amish farmer up the hill. Its a slope and is not farmable and he told the next door neighbors who also have backyards connected to that slope that he does not care if we use it for any reason... some of them have cleared the area of overgrowth and build treehouses for their grandkids... So I finally got a chance to clear out some of the overgrowth, vines, brambles, etc that was choking up all the trees back there and not allowing me to hang from trees. Now, its in the beginning of a private hammock campground of our very own!

I'm drawn to the open country. Its where the world makes the most sense. When I put myself out there I always return with something new.

Very nice setup you got there. I am jealous. I had to build my backyard hangout.

    Nice!

My house lot is a long rectangle. I "camp" toward the back of my lot sometimes. Actually, my wife is visiting her folks this week for my father-in-law's 80th birthday, and my WBBB and SuperFly have been set up back there since she left. I've spent three full nights and most of another sleeping back there since she left Saturday.

It's nice to camp in the back yard, isn't it?

that is awesome! i know we all love camping but nothing beats having a solid place nearby to walk a cooler out to and hang with some of the "not-so-adventurous" hopefully convert them..

we actually just got into a similar situation in the house we're about to move into. we've got probably 4 or 5 acres to play with: tree houses, jumps, camping, etc... when we had those biblical floods (atlanta, ga) last year a TON of sand washed up and covered all the brush. i cant wait to get out there and find some good trees near the water. Best part is its completely cutoff by backyard fences, brick walls, and the river so its primarily untouched and very secluded.

    ...in it for pics.
