Awesome report. Your beginning journey sounded extremely similar to mine! Researching tents and stumbled across hammocks, etc. Only difference is I started with a Clark NX-200.

Good story. I too trained within bail out distance. Now go out there and set it up and sleep in it in a downpour. It's a real confidence builder when everything works.

    Great writeup!

I'm new to the Blackbird as well. I'm looking at those Crowsnest 3 season for it. I didn't like the pad, same as you. I'm doing the same backyard practice as you are, and still working out the details. But I'm enjoying the experience.

How are you liking the Crowsnest?

Loving the Crowsnest. The first night I used it I did not have it tight enough and woke up a little cold. Once I tightened the shock cord up and removed any air gap I was nice and warm.

Sounds like your on your way with some great gear. "those little zipper pulls". I put a 3-4" length of cord on each of mine and it makes it easier to work.
