I also will be there and the wife has said she would like to go also.

We will be up probably thursday pm and stay at the Upper river trailhead parking area near Red Bridge. Free parking area

Where is the proposed camp for Saturday night?

We may hike Friday to the Seaton Creek camp via whichever loop we won't see Saturday.

I just re read the thread and it looks like the plan is to be somewhere Eddington creek Sat night so we will do the MRT side on Friday.

If we get to see it a second time on Sat from the North that is OK also

We are heading out for the weekend now so I will check again on Sunday

    pre trip help

don't want to hijack the thread I will be there with my home made first hammock from Jeepcachr and don't want to be cold. I have a blue 20inch foam pad, a folding z-rest 3/4 pad and a Big Agy clear air core and insulated air core. Which is the best for the hammock? I tryed the blue but just folds up around me so close that it disappears and shoulders are left cold. Is a 24 inch pad the answer?

I haven't used pads in a hammock, but what about using the zrest and cutting up the blue one to make the wings on the sides for your shoulders. Nothing fancy, you could use duct tape to secure the wings. Then you could use another piece in the footbox of your bag to keep you feet warm.

    Dblcorona -

if you still have that extra seat open i may want it if that's alright? i live in royal oak and work in farmington hills just off M5 and 12mile. so if you're going north on 275 you'll pass me. please PM me if the seat is open so we can discuss.

just a suggestion but slagle creek is a free rustic camp ground. i normally drive up around 4pm on fridays and get there in the dark, i've stayed there and also walked the 0.5 to site 8 which is has many trees and is pretty well defined and easy with a headlamp, just a little creeply solo. i normally walk north to site 3 next to the little water fall which would also be a good place for a hang. same for site 5 but a little more open to the elements and you can drive into and park for free as well for those beer keg people.
