These have added .6oz to my setup. Now i have my slings attached to my huggers, i just wrap the hugger around the tree and clip it onto itself with a dutch biner. The same as someone with webbing only would do. It's so easy.

I used to wrap the hugger around the tree, put the hugger through itself and finally attach my sling via nacrabiner. This needed to be done on both sides. Now i just clip one side, then clip the other. Makes my hammock setup time almost instantaneous, at the cost of about .6oz.

For me this is soooo worth it. When i get to camp im tired, i don't feel like spending 20 minutes setting up my rig. Nacras are great and i use them for lots of applications. However, at the end of the day, the easier the better-as long as the weight added is not significant-in my opinion.

Ordered two pair last night... Will give me a try. Still like the nacro-binner myself.

For the extra total ounce that a good climbing rated biner has i think its worth it should you need to use them for something in an emergency or high winds and any number of situations its nice to know that your absolutely not going to fall....

Fall in a hammock, or in a climbing situation? If you're putting over 1000lbs on each hammock support, enough to bend a Dutch Biner...you're doing something wrong, windy or not.

    Duct Biner through webbing loop?

And potential structural issues with cliping the biner directly through the loop like Hawkeye briefly demonstrated? I imagine there could eventually be some wear issues but that would take some time to happen, right?

There is a gentle radius filed on the inside of the Dutch Biner. It is practically rounded. There should be much less wear on the hugger than if you used rope. Never the less you should inspect that from time to time since it is the part that will wear first.

So now that one of them has failed is it worth the extra ounce saving still over a Real climbing biner? Hopefully that was just a lemon
