    Welcome to the forum.
I'm in the SC upstate as well.
I have the WBBB 1.7 double and have never regretted it. I use the MacCat Deluxe or MacCat Ultra with doors depending on the temps and weather expected.

We have a group hang planned at Devil's Fork on Lake Jocassee in October.
Check it out. You'll get to see a lot of different setups and gear.

Hi and welcome to the forum. I am new to hammock camping also, so I don't have a lot of advice but i can tell you this. I went out for my first night in the woods two Fridays ago when we had that bad thunder storm in the area. My MacCat deluxe was easy to setup and get a tight pitch. I was dry all night even with all the wind and rain.
