4 Day Solo Canoe trip - Ontario

Newbie hanger here posting about a recent solo canoe trip onto some Crown land in Southern Ontario - basically free camping for us lucky Canadians. It was short (only 4 days) but covered lots of different types of terrain - river, marshland, lakes. Didn't see another person as the area is pretty inaccessible unless you're willing to wade through rocky shallows and take the 5 portages to get in and out of the interior lakes.

    River Portion

    Marshy Areas

Hammock set up for mild weather

    View from the Hammock

    Sunset first night

Start of a 450 meter all uphill Portage

Prevailing Winds bent this pine (and I hade to paddle upwind...)

Flooded Forrest from a huge beaverdam

Rocky Shoreline looked like a beach from the distance

Gear at the end of the trip

I learned a lot about ideas for setup etc by lurking on these forums for while. So thanks to all for their innovative ideas and creative input.

Nice photos and nice canoe. You guys north of the border are very lucky to have so much water access.

    Thanks for sharing.

Yes, I have already used one of Murat's pictures as my desktop background.

I hope you don't mind MuratV.

I'll bet you can't guess which one!

Murat V, these are great pictures you have taken of your canoe trip.

    Thanks for sharing . . .

    Back in '74 I had a similar canoe . . . well sort of . . .

it was a 12' canvas covered cedar canoe with a Sears sticker on it.

It was a sweat, sweat, thang.

Your photos make me want to visit out east.
