Beavers are very aggressive about their territory. They will dunk tails on the water (not a slap, sounds like a large rock thrown on the water) and hiss while marching or swimming around your perimeter. They will not go away, because they were there first. You must retreat!

A trick I lernt as a litter feller was ta walk around the outsidy the camp and urinate on trees ta mark yourn terrytory.

Sounds a might funny (funny haha) but it works fur scarin away pert near all them critters.

If'n that don't work, yuns can play that catchy little tune from "deliverance" n make pig squealin sounds...............beavers really hate that.

Boy, you can say that again.

They're not as aggressive as they age.

My little West Highland Terrier always wants to swim after beaver... I have to hold him back, and he barks up a storm until I drag him away. He wants a fight with a beaver bad!

Here's a picture of Scuppers the Sailor Dog when he was little. He weighs about 20 lbs now, less than any beaver he's ever seen!

You ever see the fangs on one of those critters up close? They got some seerious chompers on 'em! And they can stand up on ther hind legs about 3 feet high, so getting 2 foot offa the ground ain't gittin' it. Times like this is what guns are for. If you're feeling real benevolent, make the first one a warning shot. "very few problems cannot be solved with a suitable application of high explosives." (Edgar Montrose, on Red Green show)
