Bug net is pretty lightweight stuff, why not just carry some and hang it loosely under the hammock when the bugs are super bad?

I've ordered the Universal UQ from Molly Mac. It's a full length UQ, but it's recommended to have the top of the UQ at shoulder height so that it "snugs up" properly. I won't/can't do down, but the IX is synthetic for the weight of down.
A little while ago it occured to me that I could just add a layer of fabric above the top cinch of the UQ. MacEntyre says it should be doable, so I'll try that.
I think I was in Algonquin on the Eastern Pines trail when my hand got bit. There were a few mostquitos around, but certainly not horrendous for Ontario. But I guess if your hand is on the fabric for an hour at dawn, it's going to get a few bites. Eventually I might get a double layer Warbonnet which would solve the problem, but after shelling out for a UQ (and TQ & extra layer) I'm going to try making the Hennessy work a bit longer. I do like the bottom entry as long as I can keep it closed.
If you're not worried about no seeums from below, trying some window screen material. It is inexpensive and available at most hardware and home improvement big box stores.
Let us know which option you take. Although the bugs are pretty much gone for this year.
Cheers
Brian
You can get bug net at most large fabric stores, like Hancock or JoAnn's.
Thanks, FrostyDon. I'll check out FabricLand.
How about just adding a 2QZQ UQ protector? Cost is $25 (including shipping) and it looks like it goes pretty high up on the hammock. Should give you the two layers for skeeters and protect the IX UQ as well. I'm looking in that very direction right now with an HH Explorer Delux + double layer IX UQ and 2QZQ protector. All I need is an HH sale and the kitchen pass...
What say you vetrans?

I really like Sgt Rock's concept of a bugnet sock made from Nylon Tulle. It's around $1 a yard which is hard to beat. It's also way light. For a bugnet UQ you'd be around 1 oz. and maybe a 3-4 dollars.
