Got the grass mowed and the football watched today so decided to actually make something instead of just practicing laying down seams. First thing I had to load the bobbin with some polyester thread. Also had to figure out how to get the cone spool to work on my machine. Solved that problem by gluing an empty regular spool to the bottom of it, worked great. Found out my machine, or at least the bobbin, does not like this heavier thread. It just wouldn't catch the underthread like it should and when it did I would get about an inch sewn and then it would jam. Not sure what I did besides take the bobbin race etc. apart about 50 times and waste a lot of thread, but finally it started working great. Decided to make a ridgeline organizer, last trip I had nowhere to put my glasses and the inevitable book. Used some mystery fabric from WV (thanks man). Tried to plan it so all the seams were inside but it didn't quite work out that way. Only had about 4 inches of webbing, it needed at least 2 more straps but I can still add those. I found like the experts have been saying that it's easier just to hold it and sew it than to try and pin it. In fact, I could not get the darn pins in to save my life. Ready to move on to something bigger. Photo below shows my project along with the whoopie sling I managed to tie.
