Am thinking of making a gathered end hammock like the speer and was thinking of using something like 7/64 amsteel for suspension, would there be any issue of the cord cutting or chaffing the fabric because its so thin? THanks Sykpod.

Nope no problem. Snug up your larkshead, hang gently the first time to "set" the cord. It shouldn't move after that. No movement = no chafing.
Ambulo tua ambulo.
That has been used on many hammocks this year. I haven't heard of any porblem. I did have one slip off but I think that was because the hammock was cuben.
